2012 ROAR Super Nats Day 2 Leaders

The fourth and final round of qualifying was completed last night for the 1st half of the 2012 ROAR Super Nats. 4x (WC) Ryan Cavalieri of Team Associated ended the day setting the fastest time in 10 out of the 12 rounds he competed in… Ryan Cavalieri will be sitting on the pole in 2wd buggy, 4wd buggy and mod truck.

His teammate Ryan Maifield was able to secure the second spot on the grid behind Cavalieri in the 2wd final that is set to kick off in a few hours… Maifield took the TQ in round 4 of 2wd buggy qualifying yesterday…

There have been some interesting stories to come out of this years 2012 ROAR Super Nats… First off lets start with Team Kyosho’s Cody Turner… Cody is sitting 6th on the grid in 2wd buggy this is great for a young man trying to make a name for himself… With his teammates Shaun Dunlap and Zack Rogers not racing this weekend, Cody is taking advantage of this time to climb up the depth chart at Team Kyosho…

Since were on the subject of Team Kyosho we were suprised to see Cody King your current (WC) in 1/8th Nitro Off-Road end up qualifying 47th overall in 2wd buggy. We thought with the practice and testing he was doing leading up to this week would have brought about better results…

Jared Tebo his factory counter part has been doing very well all week and has managed to find him 2nd overall in both 4wd buggy and mod truck. He is 4th on the grid in 2wd buggy…

Next we turn our attention to one Mr. Tanner Denney this kid has been on fire all year long. We actually think his participation in the JConcepts Indoor National Series has helped him become a contender in the pro ranks. Tanner has found himself in the 4wd buggy A-main 10th on the grid…! Way to go and keep up the good work…

In some other news Cody Hollis who now runs the TLR platform and is also running for JConcepts did very well I thought so far in 2wd. Making the trip from America’s heartland, this I believe is his first trip to West Coast and he managed to qualify 23rd in 2wd buggy… Wow! we thought he did very good early on in qualifying and it needed to be recognized…

Dakotah Phend of TLR has been running extremely well as well this week. Dakotah and his teammate Dustin Evans are running the Losi XX-4. This particular 4wd buggy has been around for 15 years and is still going strong they are both in the 4wd show placed 4th and 5th on the grid! Let’s see how they stack up later today…

We now move on the Stock classes now… Let’s start with 4wd Stock buggy Zack Genova has just been tearing up the track here at West Coast all week long… He is being mentored by two of the industries best when it comes to motors and tires… that being said, I am talking about Bob Novak of Novak Electronics and Jason Ruona over at JConcepts… If he just keeps listening to these guys and working with his teammates he will be a contender in the mod classes very soon… Zack is your overall TQ in 4wd Stock buggy 17.5 non timing!

Next we move to Stock buggy Kevin Motter is ready for the modified class. He will struggle for a while but he will make the adjustments to compete in that class. This young man is doing really well this year, he had a good shoowing at the 2012 HRH Shootout winning stock buggy and stock truck… Alot of the so cal drivers have been telling this website that Kevin reminds them of Brent Calvert (super fast stock driver)… We can’t wait to see how he makes the transition…  Kevin is your overall TQ in Stock buggy 17.5 non timing!

Finally onthe driver front, What can we say about Nolan Anderson of Team Associated… Danny at West Coast has called me on occasion to come and watch this local driver who races and practices 6 to 7 days a week at West Coast…We have been watching Nolan for the past couple of years, we have noticed he is getting alot faster… He has been traveling around to more tracks lately, getting exposure at other facilities which will help him in the future… Nolan is your overall TQ in Stock truck 17.5 non timing!
